The Salt Path film faces controversy over biographical accuracy

The film ‘The Salt Path’ (Saltstien), starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs, is facing scrutiny following allegations that the true story behind the book it is based on was fabricated. The story follows an English couple, Raynor Winn and her husband Moth, who embark on a 1,000-kilometer trek along the English coast after losing their home due to a failed investment.

However, investigations by The Observer have challenged these claims. It is alleged that Raynor Winn, whose real name is Sally Walker, was actually arrested for stealing funds from her workplace rather than losing her home to a bad investment. Furthermore, medical specialists have questioned the timeline of her husband’s rare brain disease, cortico-basal degeneration, noting that he has survived for 18 years despite the condition typically being fatal much sooner. As a result, a charity supporting CBD patients has ceased its cooperation with the couple.

Despite the controversy regarding the factual accuracy of the memoir, critics note the film features strong performances, particularly from Jason Isaacs and Gillian Anderson.
