The Shards series creators eye multiple seasons following first season finale
The first season of the series ‘The Shards’, based on the work of Bret Easton Ellis and produced by Ryan Murphy, has concluded with an open ending that leaves several mysteries unresolved. Set in Los Angeles during the summer of 1981, the story follows a group of elite students amidst a series of violent crimes, including the activities of a killer known as ‘the Trawler’.
While FX has not officially announced a second season, executive producer Brad Simpson stated that the adaptation was planned to last ‘at least two seasons’. The creative team has indicated that the source material could potentially support up to four seasons, as Ellis envisioned the story spanning several years. The season finale leaves key questions regarding the character Terry Schaffer and the motivations behind the ongoing investigation.
