The Shards series release schedule and renewal prospects

The Ryan Murphy thriller series ‘The Shards’, based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, is currently airing on FX and Hulu. The first season follows a nine-episode structure with a release pattern that includes double episode drops. Following the premiere on August 5, 2026, episodes 6 and 7 are scheduled to be released together on August 26, with the remaining chapters following weekly through September.

While there is no official confirmation regarding a second season, Ryan Murphy has indicated interest in a multi-year series that could span several installments. Although the original novel does not have a sequel, the series is set in 1981 Los Angeles and follows characters at an exclusive prep school. If a renewal occurs, potential new episodes could arrive in late 2027.
