The Shed raises $2.1 million at 2026 gala

The Shed’s 2026 gala, held at Hudson Yards, raised $2.1 million to support the institution’s mission of fostering artistic experimentation and innovation.

The event presented the 2026 Dan Doctoroff Disruptor Award to five individuals: board members Darla Moore and Colby Mugrabi, playwright Lynn Nottage, musician John Legend, and director/actor Whitney White. These honorees were recognized for their contributions to the upcoming musical “Imitation of Life,” which is set to have its world premiere at the institution.

During the evening, John Legend and Adrienne Warren performed two songs, providing an exclusive preview of music from their upcoming production. The gala was attended by various arts figures, including leadership from The Shed, artist Jeff Koons, and designers Marc Jacobs and Thom Browne.
