The Shepherd Mayfair boutique hotel opens in London

The Shepherd Mayfair, a new boutique hotel, has officially opened in London’s Shepherd Market. A joint venture between Bain Capital and Orka Investments, the hotel occupies a site with deep historical roots, formerly home to a 1618 residence known as The Cottage.

Designed by Timothy Shepherd of Shepherd&, the 33,600-square-foot property spans six floors and features 82 guest rooms and suites, including Standard, Superior, Shepherd, and Mayfair categories. The interior design emphasizes ‘quiet luxury,’ utilizing warm wood surfaces, marble bathrooms with Floris London amenities, and adaptable furniture such as desks that convert into dressing tables.

Dining options include the restaurant Fayre, which serves British and European classics, and The Lounge, an all-day café and bar. A late-night cocktail bar named Teddy’s is scheduled to open in November 2026. The hotel’s design incorporates local historical references, including nods to wartime intelligence history and notable local figures.
