The Simpsons star Nancy Cartwright predicts show may end with Season 40

Nancy Cartwright, the longtime voice of Bart Simpson, has predicted that The Simpsons may conclude with its 40th season. During an appearance on the "Inside of You" podcast with Michael Rosenbaum, Cartwright stated, “Forty. It’s my opinion,” when asked about the series' longevity.

While Cartwright's comment is a personal prediction and not an official network announcement, Fox has already renewed the long-running animated sitcom through Season 40, which would take the show through the 2028–29 television season. The series has recently surpassed 800 episodes and holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running animated sitcom.

Cartwright emphasized that she is willing to continue voicing her characters for as long as the network provides renewals and the cast members remain healthy, noting, “Is everybody still alive? ... Yeah, we'll keep going then.” Additionally, a sequel to The Simpsons Movie is currently scheduled for release in 2027.
