The Smiths celebrate 40 years of ‘The Queen Is Dead’ in 2026

The year 2026 will mark the 40th anniversary of The Smiths' seminal album, ‘The Queen Is Dead’, through a series of live performances and physical media releases.

In the United Kingdom, former drummer Mike Joyce and producer Stephen Street are scheduled to begin a theater tour on October 1, 2026. The tour will visit cities including Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, and Edinburgh, starting at the Arc Theatre in Stockton.

Complementing these events, tribute acts will perform across Europe. In Germany, bands such as These Smiths and The Smyths have scheduled dates in locations including Brandenburg, Kehl, Bielefeld, and Übach-Palenberg. Additionally, new vinyl remasters of ‘Best… I’ and ‘Best… II’ are being announced to coincide with the anniversary celebrations.
