The Star Sydney manager's term extended to June 2027

The New South Wales Independent Casino Commission (NICC) has extended the term of Nick Weeks as manager of The Star Sydney until June 30, 2027. This extension allows the casino to continue operating its gaming facilities while its casino licence remains suspended.

NICC Chief Commissioner Philip Crawford noted that while The Star has made progress since its licence suspension in 2022, serious questions remain regarding the company’s governance, leadership, and culture remediation. Crawford stated that recent allegations regarding these areas are being treated seriously and that the commission will monitor how both The Star and The Star Entertainment Group resolve ongoing issues affecting their properties.
