The Strokes endorse Lula da Silva in Brazilian elections

The American rock band The Strokes has publicly declared support for Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the Brazilian presidential election. Through social media, the band shared a graphic featuring a historical photograph of Lula addressing a crowd, accompanied by a remix of their song ‘Oblivius’ by drummer Fabrizio Moretti.

Lula da Silva responded to the endorsement via his official social media account, stating that the Brazilian people stand on the side of democracy, workers, and hope. The band's political involvement comes ahead of the second round of elections, where Lula is running against Flávio Bolsonaro.

Additionally, vocalist Julian Casablancas shared an article on his personal Instagram account regarding allegations that Meta worked with the Bolsonaro family to reduce the visibility of Lula da Silva's content on the platform. The Strokes are scheduled to perform at the Primavera Sound São Paulo festival in December.
