The Stunt Driver film about Canadian daredevil Ken Carter hits theaters

The biographical film ‘The Stunt Driver’, directed by Michael Dowse, has begun its theatrical release. The movie tells the story of Ken Carter, a Canadian daredevil known as ‘The Mad Canadian’, and his ambitious attempt to jump a rocket-powered car across the St. Lawrence River from Ontario to New York State.

Starring Jay Baruchel as Carter and featuring Ed Helms and Ben Foster, the film explores the psychological complexities of stunt performing and the thin line between supporting a loved one's dreams and enabling dangerous behavior. The production faced challenges, including filming scenes inside a vehicle that had already been submerged in a lake.

Based on the 1981 documentary ‘The Devil at Your Heels’, the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. It has received a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics specifically praising Baruchel’s portrayal of Carter.
