The Undertaker and AJ Styles take on backstage production roles

WWE Hall of Famers The Undertaker and AJ Styles have taken on backstage production roles for recent major wrestling events. During the AAA Ola de Calor event on August 30, 2026, The Undertaker worked alongside Savio Vega to produce the match between El Carnicero and Chris Carter.

At the NXT Heatwave event held on the same day, AJ Styles was responsible for producing the four-way main event involving Tony D’Angelo, Cruz Montana, Grayson Waller, and Zilla Fatu. Grayson Waller won the match to secure the NXT Championship. Other producers involved in these events included Fit Finlay, Steve Corino, Johnny Moss, Oney Lorcan, Pete Dunne, and Lince Dorado.

In recent commentary, AJ Styles also discussed his transition into backstage roles following his retirement from active competition at the 2026 Royal Rumble. He defended traditional WWE production rules established during the Vince McMahon era, specifically the practice of ensuring wrestlers do not turn their backs to the hard camera during matches.
