The Vvaan film explores faith and development

The Vvaan, a mythological fantasy thriller directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, has been released in theaters. The film marks the first feature-length production from TVF, in collaboration with Ektaa Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and 11:11 Entertainment.

Set against the backdrop of Chhath Puja and inspired by folklore from the Van Devi temple in Bihta, Bihar, the story explores the tension between ancient traditions and modern development. The plot follows Rishi (Sidharth Malhotra), an atheist builder, and his wife Mamta (Tamannaah Bhatia), a devout believer, as they return to a village to resolve a land dispute. During their stay, Rishi must confront local superstitions regarding a sacred forest and eventually discovers a personal connection to the land.

Critical reception has been mixed, with some reviews describing the film as having a wayward narrative and relying on cliches, while others focus on its exploration of faith versus modernization.
