The Walking Dead: Dead City has a ‘good shot’ at Season 4

Scott M. Gimple, the franchise lead for ‘The Walking Dead’, stated that the spin-off ‘Dead City’ has a ‘good shot’ at receiving a fourth season. Speaking at MultiCon 2026, Gimple noted that while the show is performing well in viewership numbers and audience engagement, the decision-making process has become more complex due to the shift toward streaming.

Unlike the era of traditional television ratings, Gimple explained that modern streaming metrics are not as ‘cut-and-dried,’ making it more difficult to calculate a show's longevity based on viewership alone.

Critically, ‘Dead City’ Season 3 has achieved a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, marking the highest critical rating in the franchise to date. Previous seasons earned 80% and 56% respectively. While AMC has not yet officially renewed the series for a fourth season, the franchise's creative direction continues to expand, with a slower rollout planned for future spin-offs.
