The Weather Channel launches Storm Radar support for Apple CarPlay

The Weather Channel has released version 4.0.19 of its Storm Radar app, which now includes support for Apple CarPlay. This update allows drivers to access weather data, satellite views, and precipitation layers directly on their vehicle's dashboard screen.

Key features of the CarPlay integration include turn-by-turn navigation with automatic rerouting and real-time weather alerts. The application continuously refreshes data in the background to notify users of changing conditions, such as rain or snow, along their specific route. It also displays the expected weather conditions at the user's destination alongside their estimated time of arrival.

Beyond CarPlay, the update introduces several enhancements for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users. These include support for various lock screen widgets—such as 12-hour forecasts and next-hour rain indicators—a redesigned Apple Watch app, and a 72-hour global radar. The update also features a wildfire smoke layer.
