The Weeknd debuts new single ‘Hong Kong’ at Kai Tak concert

Canadian singer The Weeknd performed the global premiere of his new single, ‘Hong Kong’, during the opening night of his ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ at the Kai Tak Sports Park on October 24.

The track features a prominent musical sample of the melody from ‘Seasonal Wind’ (季候風), a classic Cantonese song by Faye Wong. The performance included a dedicated music video with a nostalgic, cinematic aesthetic reminiscent of 1990s Hong Kong films, featuring imagery of Victoria Harbour.

During the concert, The Weeknd expressed his affinity for the city, incorporating references to Hong Kong and Cantonese into his performance. The artist has previously identified as a fan of Faye Wong, having shared her music on social media prior to his arrival in the city.
