The Weeknd raises $350,000 for charity after Wembley Stadium residency
Canadian artist The Weeknd has concluded a five-night sold-out residency at Wembley Stadium as part of his ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ stadium tour. The UK leg of the tour, which also included two performances at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, attracted over 450,000 fans from nearly 150 countries.
The concert series raised more than $350,000 (£260,000) for charity. Donations were generated by contributing £1 from every UK ticket sold and €1 from every European ticket sold. These funds will support the United Nations World Food Programme and Global Citizen, specifically benefiting the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund and The Weeknd’s XO Humanitarian Fund to address global hunger and education access.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan noted that the performances provided a significant boost to the city's tourism and hospitality sectors. The tour, which features music from the albums ‘After Hours’, ‘Dawn FM’, and ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’, has surpassed $1 billion in global revenue. Upcoming tour dates include stops in Dublin, Madrid, Barcelona, and Lisbon.
