The Wicker Man trilogy to be completed following archive discovery

The legacy of the 1973 British folk horror classic ‘The Wicker Man’ continues to evolve following the discovery of a long-lost family archive. The archive, found in the attic of a former family home, contains scripts, storyboards, and letters belonging to the film’s director, Robin Hardy.

Hardy’s sons, Justin and Dominic, intend to use these materials to complete a planned trilogy that remained unfinished following the director’s death in 2016. The original film, starring Christopher Lee, has a complex production history involving financial struggles, competing edits, and missing footage that was long believed to be lost.

While various restorations, including a 2013 4K edition, have attempted to preserve the film’s narrative, the newly discovered source material offers a fresh opportunity to realize Hardy’s original cinematic vision.
