The Witcher 3 Remastered introduces gear reforging system

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, released by CD Projekt Red, introduces a new gear customization feature officially called ‘reforging gear.’ This system, often referred to by players as transmogrification, allows players to apply the visual appearance of one piece of equipment to another while maintaining the original item's statistical properties.

This feature enables players to prioritize aesthetics without sacrificing combat performance. The service is not available immediately upon starting a game but must be unlocked through specific non-player characters (NPCs) named Yoana and Hattori, who are established blacksmiths within the game world.

Additionally, players have noted a humorous unintended consequence of the update. Because the reforging system allows for visual overlays, Doppler—shapeshifting creatures in the Witcher universe—appear unable to adapt to the new transmog outfits, making them easily identifiable to players.
