The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past to feature narrative continuity
CD Projekt RED and developer Fool’s Theory have announced details regarding the upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3, titled ‘Songs of the Past’. Scheduled for release in 2027, the expansion will feature narrative continuity that reacts to player decisions made during the ‘Blood and Wine’ DLC. Creative Vision Director Karolina Kuzia-Rokosz confirmed that the story, dialogues, and specific consequences will reflect whether players completed the previous expansion.
Despite this chronological link, the developers stated that playing through previous DLCs like ‘Hearts of Stone’ or ‘Blood and Wine’ is not mandatory. Players can begin the new adventure immediately after the main game’s conclusion, though they may miss specific dialogue nuances if they have not completed the prior expansions. The project is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
