Theater achievements reported in Spain and Mexico

Alezeiateatro, a school theater company from Colegio Maravillas in Benalmádena, Spain, has won first prize in the Greek and Latin Comedy category at the XIX National Greco-Latin Classical Theater Contest. Their winning production, ‘Asamblea de mujeres’ (Assembly of Women), is an adaptation of the Aristophanes play that explores themes of democracy, power, and equality. Additionally, performer Ana Martínez received a Special Mention for her role as Praxágora.

In Mexico, twelve acting students from the Escuela Nacional de Arte Teatral (ENAT) have developed a collective piece titled ‘Maravillosa cosa es’. Directed by Mariana Jiménez, the production reimagines Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ by blending the classic tale with the personal childhood memories of the performers. The work uses multimedia and a mix of electronic and tribal music to explore the transition from childhood to adulthood.
