Theater companies announce 2026-27 season lineups

Theater companies in Washington, D.C. and the Morongo Basin have announced their upcoming 2026-27 seasons.

Theater Alliance, based in Southwest D.C., will perform its first full season in its new permanent multidisciplinary arts center. The mainstage lineup includes ‘Cold War Choir Practice’, Sam Shepard’s ‘Fool for Love’, and a regional premiere of ‘Business Ideas’. The company will also host its annual Hothouse New Works Block Party to highlight local playwrights and emerging artists.

Theatre 29 will open its 28th season in September with two distinct productions. The first, ‘Larry’s Back...’ by Steve Stajich, explores themes of love and personal upheaval. The second, ‘The Last 7 Days of Obsidienne Obsurd’, is an experimental, multidisciplinary work combining personal narratives of gender transition and Chinese-American migration with live chamber music and surrealist theater.
