Theater festivals and productions scheduled in Austria and Germany

Various theater productions and festivals are scheduled across Central Europe. In Carnuntum, Austria, the Art Carnuntum world theater festival is set to run until September 6. The festival features the Goethe solo performance ‘Herr Teufel Faust’ starring Dominique Horwitz, the premiere of Euripides’ ‘Iphigenie in Aulis’ performed in Greek by Point Zero, and a production of Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’ by the British group The Lord Chamberlain’s Men.

In Berlin, Germany, the Globe Berlin Theater is presenting ‘Urfaust’ under the season theme ‘Power & Powerlessness’. The production, directed by Anselm Lipgens, utilizes Commedia dell’Arte theatrical techniques and live music to explore themes of human hubris and moral boundaries through Goethe’s dramatic fragment.
