Theater productions debut in Salvador and Curitiba

Two distinct theatrical productions are scheduled to perform in Brazil this August. In Salvador, CAIXA Cultural will host “Gota d’Água,” an adaptation of the work by Chico Buarque and Paulo Pontes performed by Cia Baiana de Teatro Brasileiro. Directed by Vinícius Lírio, the production uses an aesthetic of sand, mud, and fishing nets to explore themes of inequality, power dynamics, and the experiences of Black women.

In Curitiba, the Sangá Coletiva de Arte will debut “Cabeça d’Água” at Teatro Lala. Inspired by the 2024 floods in Rio Grande do Sul, the play utilizes real accounts and poetic imagery to examine the lasting emotional and social impacts of climate tragedies, focusing on memory, loss, and reconstruction.
