Theater troupe Keundeul celebrates 42nd anniversary with performance in Jinju

The theater troupe Keundeul will hold its 42nd anniversary regular performance on the afternoon of the 14th at the Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater. The event features a diverse program, including the troupe’s signature Madanggeuk, traditional Japanese instrument performances, and a large-scale Pungmulnori involving 130 participants.

The performance includes a newly created Madanggeuk play centered on a romantic theme to convey messages of hope and connection across generations. Guest performer Takuya Nakamura will present traditional Tsugaru Shamisen music, and the band IC Band will also perform.

The event concludes with a massive Pungmulnori performance featuring 130 citizens from Jinju, Sancheong, Changwon, Goseong, and Hadong, who have practiced for four months. Notably, 14 members of the Japanese civic group Ro-on will join the stage, highlighting cultural exchange between South Korea and Japan.
