THEATERWELT 2026 tenth edition begins in Mexico

The tenth edition of the contemporary Germanic theater cycle, THEATERWELT 2026, is currently being held at the Teatro El Granero Xavier Rojas within the Centro Cultural del Bosque. Running from August 6 to August 30, the event features scenic readings and parallel activities.

This biennial cycle serves as a primary meeting point in Mexico for contemporary German-language dramaturgy. It facilitates artistic exchange between Mexican scenic communities and the theater scenes of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland through the Spanish translation of contemporary dramatic texts.

The theme for this tenth edition focuses on migration, identity, and the sense of belonging. The selected program includes four theatrical texts exploring perspectives on displacement, memory, and human experiences related to migratory processes.
