Theatrical night tours held at cemeteries in Reus and Sabadell

Cultural initiatives are using theatrical performances to transform cemeteries into living historical stages in Catalonia.

In Reus, the General Cemetery is hosting nocturnal theatrical visits. These sessions use candlelight, music, and actors from La Gata Borda to bring the stories of both illustrious figures and anonymous citizens to life. Inaugurated in 1870, the Reus cemetery is notable for being the first non-denominational general cemetery in Catalonia and is part of the European Route of Cemeteries.

In Sabadell, Torra Serveis Funeraris, in collaboration with the Sabadell City Council and the Sabadell History Museum, organized theatrical tours at the Sant Nicolau Cemetery. The initiative aims to encourage residents to engage with the cemetery through historical discovery and storytelling, treating the site as a repository of local collective memory and community heritage.
