Theatrical productions highlight diverse figures from Edinburgh to Anacapri

Various theatrical productions are highlighting diverse historical and contemporary figures. In the United Kingdom, Roman actress Beatrice Paolucci has performed in the production ‘Backstage’ at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Directed by Yi Qu, the play follows characters Mike and Iris, two magicians, and explores a second dimension known as the ‘Backstage’ where characters must follow the orders of a leader called ‘The Clock’.

In Anacapri, Italy, as part of the ‘Anacapri – Sguardi Teatrali 2026’ series, Patrizia Di Martino will present ‘La perla, il porco… e l’amore che dipingeva parole’ on September 18 at Villa Rosa. The performance reconstructs the life of Beatrice Hastings, an English journalist, poet, and feminist who was a muse to painter Amedeo Modigliani. The play aims to restore Hastings' autonomy and identity beyond her historical association with Modigliani.
