Theatro Municipal do Rio announces new opera and ballet productions

The Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro has announced several upcoming performances for October. As part of the ‘Ópera do Meio-Dia’ project, the theater will host four free lunchtime sessions of Gioachino Rossini’s opera ‘Cinderella’ (La Cenerentola). This production marks the first time the opera will be performed in Portuguese at the venue, featuring an adaptation by Victor Abalada and Cyrano Sales.

Additionally, a new production of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ will debut on October 7. Featuring the theater’s ballet and symphony orchestra, the production is set to Prokofiev’s music and choreographed by Luiz Fernando Bongiovanni. Tickets for the ballet run from R$ 30 to R$ 90, with performances scheduled through October 11.
