Theatrum Kuks celebrates 25th anniversary with light-themed festival

The Theatrum Kuks festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a multi-genre program focused on the theme of light. Taking place from August 19 to 23, 2026, in the Kuks hospital area and its surroundings, the festival integrates theater, music, opera, dance, and visual arts.

The opening ceremony features the Geisslers Hofcomoedianten performing the opera-light production ‘Divadlo světla’ (Theater of Light). Other highlights include the ‘Lux de Kukus’ light show, a land art installation titled ‘Bibliotheca’, and an exhibition of books by Alena Laufrová.

To mark the 10th anniversary of Czech-Slovak puppetry being inscribed on the UNESCO list, the festival will also feature various puppet productions. International guests include performers from Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Slovenia, contributing to the festival's long-standing tradition as a significant European artistic center.
