Thebes Avenue motorcycle accident kills two young people

A 24-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were killed in a motorcycle accident on Thebes Avenue in the Rentis area during the early hours of Friday, October 9. The motorcycle reportedly veered off course and struck a lighting pole with great force near the Ministry of Migration and Asylum. Both victims were transported to Tzaneio Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The incident marks a second tragedy for the woman's family within seven years. In 2019, her 18-year-old brother, Christos, was killed in a motorcycle accident on the Aegina-Perdika road. That previous case involved a garbage truck driving in the wrong lane and faulty road safety barriers, leading to the conviction of the driver and a former deputy mayor for manslaughter through negligence.
