Thebes elderly home targeted by two stone-throwing attacks
The ‘Agios Athanasios o Megas’ Parish Elderly Home in the Pyri neighborhood of Thebes has been targeted by two stone-throwing attacks within a few days. In both instances, the attackers targeted the same window of a room used to house elderly residents.
The first incident occurred on Friday, September 4, when a group of youths, reportedly Roma, threw stones from the railway area behind the facility, cracking a window pane. A second attack took place on Sunday, during which the perpetrators targeted the same spot, causing the glass to shatter.
No injuries were reported despite the dangerous nature of the attacks. Local police are currently conducting investigations to identify the perpetrators and determine the exact circumstances of the incidents. The facility, which has operated since 2003 under the Holy Metropolis of Thebes, Lebadeia, and Avlida, provides housing and nursing care for up to 35 elderly individuals.
