TheFork study: Reviews outweigh price for Spanish diners
A study conducted by the reservation platform TheFork reveals that customer reviews have become the primary factor influencing restaurant selection among Spanish consumers. According to the research, which surveyed 6,000 users, 59% of respondents consider reviews the most decisive element when making a reservation.
This factor outweighs price (42%), cuisine type (34%), and discounts or promotions (28%). The study highlights the growing importance of digital reputation, noting that 62% of users state a poor online rating is the main reason they would discard an establishment, whereas high prices only influence 24% of participants.
Consumer habits show a strong preference for practical information and shared experiences over promotional content. While 75% of users check the menu before confirming a booking and 73% review previous diners' opinions, only 17% consult social media or official websites. Most reviews focus on food quality, service, and treatment, which were mentioned by 70% of participants.
