Colina Verde Square suffers sixth electrical theft in two years

Colina Verde Square in Rondonópolis has been targeted by electrical wire thefts for the sixth time in less than two years. The most recent incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, May 8, leaving the square without lighting and causing significant public safety concerns.

The Municipal Infrastructure Secretariat (Sinfra) reported that the theft required extensive repairs, including the replacement of electrical circuits, distribution boards, and poles. The municipality has already invested approximately R$ 40,000 in repairs specifically for Colina Verde Square due to vandalism.

On a broader scale, Sinfra estimates that R$ 500,000 has been spent on maintaining various public spaces affected by similar thefts and vandalism, including Parque dos Escondidinho and the Pinheirão mini stadium.
