Theft incidents reported in Colombian buses and Bogotá businesses

Security footage has revealed a new method of theft targeting intercity buses, where suspects board vehicles as regular passengers to steal belongings from travelers while they sleep. Recorded incidents from August and September 2026 show individuals walking through aisles to identify bags or using overhead compartments to access luggage, often concealing their actions with blankets to avoid suspicion.

In a separate incident in the Suba locality of Bogotá, police arrested two men, aged 23 and 50, for attempting to steal 33 motorcycle tires valued at 20 million pesos. The suspects gained entry to a commercial establishment in the La Campiña neighborhood by breaking a hole through a wall. Authorities intercepted the suspects and recovered all the stolen merchandise during a patrol operation.
