Theft of public property and railway cables reported in Croatia

Multiple incidents of theft targeting public and infrastructure property have been reported in Croatia. In the Municipality of Tkon, five solar lights were stolen from the Straža lookout point. Local officials condemned the act, stating that the thieves stole communal property intended for the benefit of all citizens and visitors.

In a separate incident, vandals stole approximately 1,000 meters of telecommunications cable from the railway line between Požega and Velika. HŽ Infrastruktura reported that the theft, which occurred between October 2 and October 5, resulted in an estimated material damage of 5,500 euros. While the theft affects communication between stations, officials noted that train traffic remains unaffected as personnel can use backup communication methods, and passenger safety has not been compromised.
