Thelma Assis to end 21-year connection with Mocidade Alegre

Thelma Assis, the physician and presenter known as Thelminha, has announced she will not participate in the 2027 Carnival parade with the samba school Mocidade Alegre. This decision marks the end of a 21-year relationship with the institution, which she has supported since before her national fame as the winner of Big Brother Brasil 20.

In a joint announcement on Instagram, Assis reflected on her various roles within the school, including ritmista, passista, and destaque. She stated that while cycles eventually end, she is at peace with the decision, noting that “being a sambista is a privilege and having belonged to Mocidade Alegre will always be a source of pride.”

Mocidade Alegre, the current champion of the São Paulo Special Group, will parade in 2027 with the theme “Sete Anos de Mar, Sete Léguas de Encanto: A Nau que venceu o Diabo sob a bênção do sagrado manto” as they seek a bicampeonato.
