Thelma Buabeng stars in new ZDF crime series ‘Die Polizistin’

Actress Thelma Buabeng is starring in the second installment of the ZDF crime series ‘Die Polizistin’, titled ‘Die Polizistin und die Todesstille’. Directed by Lars Becker, the series follows BKA case analyst Gloria Acheampong.

In this new film, Acheampong is sent to Frankfurt am Main to investigate the suspected execution of an undercover investigator near the city. The plot involves her navigating the underworld of the Frankfurt station district.

Buabeng, who was born in Ghana and raised in the Rhineland, is noted as the first Black female commissioner to headline a German television series under her character's name. In interviews, she has discussed the experience of being a Black actress and police officer in Germany, noting the challenges of being cast in stereotypical roles such as maids or domestic workers.
