Theo G. sentenced to 15 years for murder in Katwijk

A court in Katwijk has sentenced Theo G. to 15 years in prison for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Luna, in April 2023. The victim was killed with more than thirty knife wounds following the end of a tumultuous relationship.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered mandatory forensic psychiatric treatment (tbs) for the defendant. While the Public Prosecution Service did not demand this measure, the judges determined that the man suffers from a personality disorder.

The court rejected the defendant's claim of self-defense, noting that his behavior during the proceedings was ‘inappropriate’ and ‘hurtful’ toward the victim's family. Luna's sister, Loes, expressed relief at the verdict, stating it was the outcome the family had hoped for.
