Theodore Kwan attends university chemistry lectures at age 8

Eight-year-old Theodore Kwan from Singapore has been attending chemistry lectures at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) as a guest of Professor Sumod Pullarkat. Although not an enrolled student, Kwan participates by listening to lectures and regularly engaging with the material by answering questions correctly.

Kwan has demonstrated exceptional academic abilities at a very young age. At six years old, he became the youngest candidate in Singapore to earn an A in chemistry through the IGCSE. Recently, at age eight, he achieved A grades in both physics and biology in the same examinations, making him the youngest in the country to sit for those specific subjects. He currently holds multiple national records in Singapore.

Professor Christian Wolfrum, Vice President and Provost of NTU, noted that the university is open to all talent and that having Kwan in the classroom creates a unique dynamic that can benefit all students. Kwan's mother, Crystal Tang, emphasized that his curiosity and desire to learn are more important than his academic scores.
