Greek Interior Minister Theodoros Libanios has confirmed that the government has no intention of changing the fundamental structure of the national election law. While the core law remains unchanged, the minister noted that the government is studying various procedural improvements for the upcoming 2027 elections.

A significant update involves the implementation of postal voting for Greek citizens living abroad during national elections. Currently, over 13,000 citizens have already registered for this process, with statistics showing that more than 6 in 10 eligible voters prefer this method. Additionally, a proposal for a separate three-member electoral district for citizens abroad is expected to be implemented 18 months after the next elections.

Regarding public sector staffing, Libanios announced that a proposal for approximately 20,000 new hires in the public sector for 2027 will be presented to the Cabinet on September 30. This plan covers sectors such as health, education, and local government. Separately, the minister highlighted a plan for 9,000 permanent hires for municipal daycare and nursery centers, which will be managed through a new system emphasizing prior experience and overseen by ASEP.
