Theologian İhsan Şenocak criticizes Trabzonspor chants for Mohamed Salah

Theologian and founder of the Center for Scientific and Intellectual Research (İFAM), Dr. İhsan Şenocak, has publicly condemned Trabzonspor supporters for using religious chants to honor footballer Mohamed Salah. The chants, which include the phrase “Allah Allah, Muhammed Salah,” have sparked significant debate on social media.

Addressing the fanbase, Şenocak emphasized Trabzon’s historical identity as a center of Islamic scholarship, referring to the city as a “land of scholars.” He argued that mixing sacred religious invocations with football chants is disrespectful to Islamic traditions and the region's religious heritage.

Şenocak urged supporters to immediately cease the practice, stating that regardless of the fans' intentions, religious expressions should not be used in such a manner. He warned that the chants could potentially provoke “divine retribution.”
