Theramex Italia introduces linzagolix for endometriosis treatment

Theramex Italia has organized a conference to discuss the evolution of endometriosis treatments, specifically focusing on the launch of the drug linzagolix. In Italy, endometriosis affects approximately 3 million women, serving as a chronic inflammatory condition that significantly impacts quality of life.

Professor Stefano Uccella of the University of Verona explained that linzagolix works by blocking ovarian activity, which stops the production of estrogen and progesterone. Because this effectively induces menopause, it must be paired with ‘add-back therapy’—a hormonal treatment consisting of natural estrogens and progesterone—to prevent menopause symptoms in younger women. This approach aims to provide more personalized care based on individual patient needs.
