Thermal Grizzly launches pre-delidded AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 CPUs

Thermal Grizzly has announced the availability of pre-delidded AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 processors, priced at $1,402.83. These high-end 16-core Zen 5 chips have had their integrated heatspreaders professionally removed to facilitate direct-die cooling, which can reduce thermal resistance and increase overclocking headroom.

Because removing the original heatspreader typically voids the manufacturer's warranty, Thermal Grizzly provides its own warranty for these units. Each processor undergoes functional testing and cleaning, with results—including temperature screenshots and microscope images of the delidded die—provided to the customer on a USB stick. The original heatspreader is included in the package, though the company warns against its reuse due to height discrepancies between the chiplets and the spreader.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 features 208 MB of total cache via 3D V-Cache technology and can reach boost clocks of up to 5.6 GHz. Thermal Grizzly recommends using its own direct-die cooling solutions and liquid metal interfaces for optimal performance.
