Indian Oil Q1 loss crude price surge West Asia conflict record throughput

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. posted a standalone net loss of Rs 2,661 crore for the first quarter of FY27, reversing a profit of Rs 5,689 crore a year earlier. The loss was attributed mainly to higher crude‑oil costs stemming from the West Asia conflict, costs that were not passed on to consumers.

Despite the loss, revenue from operations grew 26% to Rs 2.76 trillion. The company recorded its highest‑ever Q1 refinery crude throughput of 19.165 million metric tonnes (109.4% capacity utilisation) and a record pipeline throughput of 28.548 million tonnes. Domestic market share rose to 43.1%.

Petrol and diesel sales hit new quarterly highs at 4.522 million tonnes and 10.866 million tonnes respectively. The petrochemicals segment posted a profit of Rs 217 crore, and Indian Oil launched three premium lubricant series – SERVO Hypersport, SERVO Hyperdrive and SERVO Hypertorq.
