Thermi Municipality calls emergency meeting over student transport crisis

The Municipality of Thermi has called an emergency meeting for August 25 at 20:00 to address critical issues regarding student transportation for the upcoming school year. The meeting, to be held at the Thermi Cultural Center, will include school directors, parents' associations, and the Union of Parents and Guardians.

The crisis stems from a failed tender conducted by the Central Macedonia Region. Despite efforts to complete the process, the tender only secured bids for 10% of the required transportation work, leaving the majority of student transport unassigned.

While municipal officials clarified that the Municipality of Thermi does not hold direct responsibility or jurisdiction over the regional tender process, Mayor Theodoros Papadopoulos and Deputy Mayor of Education Stelios Apostolou are seeking to coordinate with local stakeholders to find an immediate solution and ensure students can safely access their schools.
