Greece celebrates the feast of Saint Cosmas of Aetolia

Religious celebrations and commemorations are being held across Greece to honor the feast day of Saint Cosmas of Aetolia. In Thermo, festivities began with a celebratory Vespers at the Holy Monastery of Saint Cosmas, attended by many faithful and led by Metropolitan Damaskinos of Aetolia and Acarnania. Local residents also gathered at a historic small chapel in Megalo Dendro to pay their respects.

In Loutra Aidipsou, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Holy Chapel of Saint Cosmas. Meanwhile, in Thebes, a local chapel dedicated to the saint was burglarized on the morning of the feast, resulting in property damage despite a relatively small amount of money being stolen.

The feast also featured cultural events, including a large concert in Thermo featuring performers Nikos Apergis and Elena Papapanagiotou. The day serves as a significant religious and historical commemoration of the 18th-century saint, known for his role in spreading education and faith during the Ottoman era.
