Thermoelectric Plant Area in Mexico Sees Second Drowning

Two men entered the sea near the thermoelectric plant in Villa Lepro, a zone where swimming is prohibited because of strong return currents. Lifeguards launched a land and sea operation; a 29‑year‑old man, Giovanny, was rescued alive, while the second man, David, was found dead the following morning after a passerby reported a floating body.

The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, despite warning signs and red flags. Rodolfo Espinoza Mena, director of Protección Civil y Bomberos, urged residents to avoid the area due to the extreme risk of the currents.
