Thermoelectric plants in Venezuela and Cuba undergo reactivation

Technical efforts are underway to stabilize power grids in Venezuela and Cuba through the reactivation of major thermoelectric units.

In Venezuela, reactivation tests have begun for unit TZ07 at the General Rafael Urdaneta Thermoelectric Complex in Maracaibo. Following the arrival of necessary spare parts, the unit is currently in a slow-rotation phase, with synchronization to the National Electric System (SEN) expected within 72 hours. This is part of a broader rehabilitation plan involving several other units to address a significant energy deficit in the Zulia region.

In Cuba, the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plant has returned to the National Electro-Energy System after several days of repairs. The outage was caused by a sudden water loss in the boiler, specifically involving damage to high-temperature reheater tubes. Despite delays caused by additional defects discovered during pneumatic testing, specialists from various maintenance brigades successfully completed the repairs and have begun progressively increasing the load.
