Thermos stainless steel containers recalled over pressure‑release defect

Thermos has withdrawn about 8.2 million stainless‑steel food jars and bottles from the United States after the Consumer Product Safety Commission identified a missing pressure‑relief valve in the caps. The affected lines – Stainless King Food Jars and Sportsman Food & Beverage (models SK3000, SK3020 and SK3010) – can build internal pressure when hot liquids or foods are stored, potentially causing the lid to eject violently.

Chile’s consumer watchdog SERNAC issued a safety alert for the same brand after a local importer reported the defect. In Chile the models SK3000 Stainless King and SK3020 Food Jar sold between 2018 and 2026 are cited. Experts explain that sealed containers with hot contents generate steam, increasing pressure; without a venting mechanism the cap may burst open. Consumers are advised to check seal integrity, avoid over‑filling, and keep lids clean, as well as to verify whether their Thermos products are among the recalled models.
