Thessaloniki Airport expects record 8.2 million passengers
Thessaloniki Airport is projected to reach a new historical record in passenger traffic, with estimates suggesting numbers could exceed 8.2 million travelers this year. Giorgos Velos, General Manager of Development for Fraport Greece, noted that the airport is experiencing significant growth, with various markets increasing their share of the total traffic.
To celebrate World Tourism Day, Fraport Greece organized a gastronomic event at the airport focused on Mount Olympus, which was recently added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The event highlighted the regional connection between the airport and nearby cultural and natural landmarks, such as Olympus, Chalkidiki, and Vergina.
Regarding future connectivity, Velos mentioned ongoing and upcoming flight routes, including connections with Egypt and a new winter connection with Haifa, as part of a continuous effort to increase passenger flows throughout the year.
